'Turning Toxic Parents into Negative Role Models, Building a Happy Family' (Author: Tomonori Tomura) Back Cover

[About This Book]

While the term 'toxic parent' is widely known, after recognizing anger toward parents and past pain, there are also challenges such as 'How should I live from now on?' and 'How can I avoid repeating the same suffering with my own children or spouse?'

This book does not aim to unilaterally condemn toxic parents.

Based on the author's own approximately 50 years of experience in relationships with his parents and the insights he has continued to develop on the website 'Toxic Parents Lab',

this book focuses on the central themes of: - Not passing on the wounds received from parents to the next generation, - Respecting each other's human rights between parents and children, and between spouses, - And making the home a 'safe base for the heart' where one can return with peace of mind.

The book also introduces the author's unique concept of 'disaster mitigation for toxic parent disasters,' which involves reducing the impact on oneself through evacuation, consultation, setting boundaries, and adjusting distance, even when it is difficult to change the parent themselves.

Furthermore, it covers practical themes for improving the family, such as methods to free oneself from anger and revenge, anxiety about 'becoming a toxic parent myself,' ways for parents who have realized their own言行 to repair relationships, parent-child relationships that foster children's autonomy, dialogue between spouses, and family governance.

The author, Tomonori Tomura, is a former UN specialist and holds an MBA from the United States. While giving lectures, training, and writing in the fields of governance, human rights, crisis management, psychological safety, AI, and DX, he has also been communicating about human rights in the family and parent-child relationships as a father of one child.

<Author's Message>

'I did not want to write a book that competes in describing the awfulness of toxic parents. No matter what happened in the past, I wanted to write a book that stops the negative chain in our generation and thinks about what kind of family to build from now on.'

This is not to blame parents,

but for the happiness of your own life and your family's life.

This book proposes transforming painful experiences from 'a reason to hurt someone else' into wisdom for building a better family.
