Protection of 'privileges' questioned anew in ransomware countermeasures In ransomware attacks, 'privileges' with strong permissions are targeted to reach important systems and data after intrusion. If privileges are abused, attackers can impersonate legitimate administrators and operate, potentially expanding damage. To protect privileges from such attacks, basic measures such as appropriate access control, permission management, and usage monitoring are essential. Meanwhile, with the spread of cloud and SaaS, and the expansion of machine IDs and AI, the privileges to be protected can no longer be captured by traditional 'privileged IDs' alone.

The actual usage and potential risks of privileges that cannot be seen just by 'managing' Even if you implement ledger management of privileged IDs, password management, usage requests and approvals, that alone may not be sufficient. Who uses privileges, when, on which system, and how? Are there unnecessary permissions or neglected IDs? Are there suspicious operations hidden among legitimate usage? If you cannot grasp the actual usage, you may miss potential risks even if you have introduced PAM. From now on, it is important not only to 'manage' privileged IDs, but also to understand 'where, what kind of privileges exist, and what risks there are' and continuously control them.

From privileged ID management to 'privileged risk understanding'. Explaining future PAM strategy In this seminar, we will first organize the basic approach to protect privileged IDs from cyber attacks such as ransomware. We will also introduce the descriptions regarding privileged management in the SCS evaluation system. Then, how to perceive the privileges expanding due to the spread of cloud, SaaS, machine IDs, and AI, and how to grasp their actual usage and potential risks? We will introduce a way of thinking to go one step further from traditional privileged ID management and continuously understand and control privileged risks. We will also introduce the direction of privileged risk management that iDoperation PAM aims for. If you are thinking 'I want to review current privileged management', 'I feel issues in operating existing PAM', or 'I want to improve manual privileged management', please join us.
